Trick or Treat!

We stumbled upon Innocent Yesterday Guilty Today and fell in love with their vegan treats such as their chocolate chip cookies and cakes. Want to know more and get a discount code? Keep reading our interview with founder Jon Gabel!

What was the reasoning behind starting a vegan bakery?

I dreamt the concept. Here at Innocent Yesterday, we don't view ourselves as a pure vegan bakery, but more as a bakery that serves amazing quality food that happens to provide plant based options. We believe that our customers for the most part are not fully vegan. As a community, we're all trying to implement a healthy lifestyle, and we want to incorporate that into our bakery and provide as many healthy meals as possible.

How are you able to make it taste so good without butter?

We hire the best chefs and source the best ingredients, as well as hold a lot of tastings. This allows room for trial and error, which improves the dishes in the long run.

How do you keep your baked goods moist?

By using fresh products, we cook our products for that day only.

What is your favorite sweet?

Chocolate chip cookies and monkey bread.

What are you cooking up next?

Double D’s, it's a hot dog and knish joint in the Lower East Side, where one can choose their own toppings.

About Jon Gabel, Founder & CEO, Coming Soon Food Group (Zazzy’s, Innocent Yesterday, SNOB)

Jonathan Gabel, CEO of Coming Soon Food Group as well as Joonbug.com, is a marketing, promotions, and nightlife guru with a footprint that extends beyond New York City, throughout the entire United States, and reaching across the pond to London. Gabel’s stewardship of Joonbug.com from 2007 to present is only the most recent of his nightlife endeavors, all of which have shaped him into the successful expert he is today.

Jon Gabel began his nightlife career over twenty years ago, when he burst into the New York City nightlife scene with the successful ownership of over ten bars, nightclubs, lounges and other venues; including Vanity, Vela, and Snitch - one of the largest and most successful rock bars at the time. In 2001, recognizing the nascent power of the Internet, Jon founded Gabel Entertainment - an early digital marketing and media company which promoted and produced special events in top venues nationwide. Noting the tremendous potential of New Year’s Eve and Halloween as perennial nightlife staples, Gabel began testing the market with a small handful of curated events in target markets. Following this model he built the largest domestic network of Halloween and New Year’s Eve focused events catering to over 170,000 guests in 15 cities both nationally and internationally.

Jon brings together his nightlife expertise, his multi-channel online digital marketing knowledge and ownership/operational experience to create, brand, and drive this new concept, healthy comfort food.
