Beth Stern’s Kindness to Kittens

I know that you were always an animal lover, but how did you start rescuing and fostering cats?

Growing up, my family always rescued animals…guinea pigs, chickens, cats and dogs. So, yes, I come from a big animal loving family!  Howard is an animal lover too. Fostering was something I always wanted to do. When our bulldog Bianca passed away, I finally had the time to foster.  I picked up a litter of kittens in danger of being euthanized at a local municipal shelter. I nurtured them and found them homes. After the last one left for her forever family, I picked up more who needed me. I haven’t stopped!

How many cats are you fostering in your home right now? How many cats have you found a forever home ?

Currently I have a pregnant mama kitty about to give birth, 5 small abandoned kittens, 3 blind special needs kitties, 2 seniors and an adult… Hmmm so guess that makes 12 fosters in addition to our 7 resident cats.  Over 1,700 cats/kittens have been nurtured in our home and placed into forever homes from my foster program.

How did you turn Howard into a catty daddy?

Howard actually had a cat and dog when his daughters were growing up.  He loves all animals like I do.  He loves helping me foster. I love watching him interact and play with the kittens. They love his hair. Howard falls in love with every cat that comes into our home and wants to keep them. Can you imagine if I didn’t say no?!

February 17th is Random Acts of Kindness Day. What can we do to support the cause?

Donate blankets and supplies to your local shelter. Monetary donations are always welcome of course. And adopt if you are considering adding to your fur family!
